Peter has been a member of the brass band movement for many years. Starting on Baritone whilst in school he was first a member of his hometown band, New Mills, and shortly afterwards joined the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
 
He soon went on to have a long successful playing career with a number of top-flight bands, including Leyland, Fodens, Grimethorpe Colliery and most notably Black Dyke and the Fairey Band.
 
Peter began his conducting career with Marple B Band (now Hawk Green) and also spent time with Chapel Band.
 
Bollington Brass was extremely lucky to secure Peter’s services as Musical Director in 2001. Since then Peter has taken Bollington Brass from the Second Section (National grading) all the way up to the Championship Section with several wins and visits to the National Championship Finals. The Band currently competes in the First Section, North West area.
